Many employers require job applicants to have criminal background checks
performed prior to employment. A criminal record check is also a
prerequisite when obtaining a professional license or
 certification.
Often times, background checks must be done on a yearly basis to keep
these licenses and certifications active. The Court Services Office can
assist you by taking a set of fingerprints for you. Once you have the
prints, either the requesting employer /agency or you must forward the
prints to the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, which
will conduct the actual background check.
If the employer gives you a fingerprint card, please complete it prior
to your arrival, except for your signature. If you do not have a
fingerprint card, we will provide it for you. Please bring picture
identification, preferably a driver’s license or state identification
card.
